That's all I needed to read to make my decision...although I wasn't going to get it before I read that.
IW must really want the PC crowd to pirate this game because PC players won't put up with that shitty P2P BS again. For all the bad things pirates do, hacking the game to have dedicated servers is an example of where pirates did some good.
If it would let me edit my original post, I'd change it to say, 'MS is trying to find a way to copy this for bungie.net.' I know that Halo already does something similar. I wasn't specific enough. MS would love to start charging for bungie.net. That's what I was inferring.
I didn't say MS would charge for what they have going for Halo as it is now. They will add little crap like Activision is with the community, game extras, etc. While I think this Elite model is complete tripe, it does have stuff that's different than Halo's bungie.net.
Also, even if bungie.net is completely identical, you don't think MS would try and figure out a way to charge people for it? You people are naive.
So now they want to charge you for something you should get in the first place with the game? Man I hate greed.
I'd say right after the fat-ass Kotick says, "Let them eat cake" but that'll never happen since he'd charge us to watch him eat it.
@femsheep....
Are you saying people on PC would pay to play for a P2P game? They did P2P with MW2 and there was a HUGE backlash on the PC side while the console people didn't bat an eyelash. PC gamers won't put up with P2P which is why they hacked the game and made their own way to play on dedicated servers.
PC gamers demand more than console players. I'm sorry if that offends some, but it's true. I play on all three so I have no allegianc...
Oh, MS likes it. Sony just beat them to the punch because MS is trying to find a way to copy this for Halo.
If this becomes successful, it's the begging of a downward spiral for gaming. It will become the norm for big titles and you'll be nickle-and-dimed to the point that you will drastically reduce the number of games you purchase. That will hurt the entire gaming industry. Smaller game developer's sales will drop and creativity will be a thing of the past.
Time to stand up and make a statement to Activision and the rest of the industry by not buying this crap.
Please, I implore you people. DO NOT buy this premium service crap or it will mark the beginning of a downward spiral for gaming.
If this succeeds, other big-name companies will start doing to the same thing and that will mean less money in your wallet, which in turn means you will buy fewer games. This will hurt a lot of other (mostly smaller) game companies and further hamper creativity in the industry.
All we'll see is rehashes of the same IP's...
PC players would DESTROY PS3 players. A good player with a M+KB will outplay a great player with a controller. The accuracy and speed of a mouse cannot be matched by a controller which is why every FPS on consoles has a crapload of aim assist.
You will NEVER see PC players playing with console players unless Sony or MS come up with a new controller designed for FPS's. Google trackball xbox controller and you'll get an idea of what they could do. Even then I'...
Yeah, get it. I love it. It really doesn't have an end which is why I was a little reluctant to get it since I like having an objective to work towards, but you can make your own objectives to work towards like finding/making the best weapons, armor, home, etc.
If you grew up during the NES days, you'll be drowning in nostalgia. Kind of a mix between the original Zelda, Metroid, and a mining game.
Right now there aren't enough difficult enemies...
PS3 and PC both get the shaft from COD. Another reason I can't wait for BF3.
The more I hear about MW3, the less I want it. This franchise is dying. You watch, it's not going to have the sales of of BO and the COD after MW3 will have fewer sales than MW3 did. People will move on to other shooters like BF3.
The only good solution for M+KB on a console is the XIM3. It's the only controller that has translators for each game that give the user as close to a PC experience as you'll get. The website explains it better:
"Through Smart Translators, XIM3 is able to provide unparalleled mouse precision unachievable by any other gaming adapter available. The problem is simple: when the mouse moves, equivalent reticle movement on the screen should occur (i.e. 1-to-1 movemen...
LOL...I was thinking something VERY similar. The first thing I see whenever I see that logo (which I've seen in many articles now)is a vagina.
I'm not denying the difficulty in making a game like this or how talented this guy must be, but can anyone honestly tell me they would be entertained by this for very long? I would get very bored with this. Props to the maker though.
So are some of you able to get these games yet? Whenever I go the PSN store, it always says it's under maintenance. How do you get these games?
It had me change my password last night and do an update but I still get the "under maintenance" message.
While I find the commercial funny, I'm not sure I get how it sells the product. What does Blake Griffin have to do with Rage? I thought I was watching an ESPN commercial for most of it.
Many have already speculated this. I can almost guarantee the portal gun will be in it in some fashion along with the grav gun.
It's cool and all but it's still nothing new to advance the genre that much IMO. Valve is known for making HL games that advance the genre. Whether it be the way stories are told a la HL1, or the grav gun from HL2, there needs to be something that hasn't been done before that differentiates it from all the other FPS's out there. ...
I guess i'm in the minority here. Not really impressed.
